William K. Peterman III

A Bronx native whose parents and grandparents came from the same South Bronx neighborhood, Mr., Peterman earned his B.A. in 1982 from Binghamton University where he played four years of NCAA basketball and was co-captain of the team his senior year. He began his legal career prosecuting child abuse cases in Bronx Family Court in the 1980's, before becoming an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York in the 1990's. In that position, he rose to the title of Senior Trial Attorney, successfully defending the City against all types of personal injury cases. From there, Mr. Peterman spent several years doing personal injury defense work. He joined CPP in 1998 and for the past 17 years has devoted his practice entirely and exclusively to the representation of seriously injured clients. He has been the trial attorney responsible for the prosecution of all major CPP cases taken to trial in the past 17 years.
His nearly thirty years of experience as an attorney, his unsurpassed work ethic and trial preparation, and his passion to obtain the pest possible outcome for his clients and their families, have made William Peterman one of the most successful trial attorneys in the New York City area. Mr. Peterman is currently the Vice-President of the Bronx County Bar Association, and will be sworn in as the 115th President of the BCBA in the fall of 2016. He is a Board member of the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission which reviews the qualifications of individuals running for election as Judges.
He is the son of Battalion Chief William Peterman, who retired after 40 years with the FDNY, and his late mother Catherine who graduated from Lenox Hill Hospital nursing school and worked as an R.N. for nearly 50 years. He and his wife Laura have two children, a beautiful daughter named Sarah and their son Will, who hopes to surpass his father's accomplishments on the basketball court.
